The Tuesday Sundries - Copper, Silver, & Gold

Three from Archaeology.org this week with the first being about a copper awl found in an "ancient village in the Jordan Valley."  The object dates "between 5200 and 4600 B.C." and "is believed to be the oldest metal object yet unearthed in the Middle East."  Find out more here.

Also, "scientists recently examined a silver ring holding a gem engraved with the word “Allah” that was discovered in a Viking-era woman’s grave by Swedish archaeologists in the late nineteenth century."  Learn more here.

Finally, "researchers think children may have been responsible for embellishing the finely decorated weapons and jewelry discovered in the early nineteenth century at the Bush Barrow burial mound near Stonehenge."  Discover more here.
